Traveling betwixt St. Thomas & Puerto Rico

My husband & I are traveling to St. Thomas in 2 weeks and and so flying to Puerto Rico. I have read varying reports of identification needed when flying to the U.Southward. from STT and nosotros are planning on bringing drivers licenses, nascency certificates & social security cards. I am wondering if anyone has experience traveling between STT & Puerto Rico so we know what to await? Also, will we need to go through customs when flying from STT to SJU?

Yous clear community and immigration in STT when leaving every bit it is a port of entry to the U.s.. You only demand your driver's license. I bring a passport because I always travel with it but you exercise not Need annihilation but a license. We only went to STX (same set upwardly as STT) and my sis simply had her license - no problem at all.

How-do-you-do -smashing news! If you are a U.S. Citizen, you only need your active/current drivers license. You don't demand your birth certificate or SS carte du jour. When you exit STT or PR to return to the states y'all will have to go through community but they merely request to see your U.S. issued DL as ID (if a U.S. denizen) and the completion of the customs grade. If you exit the USVI or PR to ane of the BVI'due south you'll need a passport. Hope that helps!

The USVI and Puerto Rico/Us mainland are in different customs zones. Since the USVI are duty complimentary islands, whenever you go out you lot will clear customs. This is not immigration and whatsoever government issued stateside ID will work. Hope that helps.
